The thickness can be what allows this layering effect to become possible.

It's best to simply start painting and see what becomes of it. Often the best works of art result from not trying too much. People often find it difficult to make up the perfect masterpiece and get frustrated. This frustration really works up against the artist. If painting an individual piece isn't intriguing, often there is the option of purchasing abstract art.
